You Need A Support System
You need people. We all need people. You need a support system to find your career passion and you are also a support system. Whatever it is, whoever it is- you cannot do anything alone. Nobody is self-made. Sure, you can do - and have done- amazing things in your life or in your career but nobody can do it alone. You have to have a support system to find your thing.
Find a Career You Love
Quick question. If money wasn’t an object, what would you do for a career?
What was your gut reaction, initial, no over-thinking response? Is it worlds apart from what you do now? Or is it being the bomb ass boss at your current gig? What is it you want to do with your career — really? I know, I know … easier asked than answered. Or … just maybe, deep down you know the answer, but you’re afraid of the answer or you have no idea how to move forward.
Is Your Profession Your Passion?
It has become ingrained in our culture that we need to “Follow Your Bliss” and “Do What You Love” and all sorts of other platitudes. Don’t forget that you have to have your Dream Job. And yeah - I believe that you 100% should do the things that bring you joy and that light your fire and yeah, that you’re passionate about. But I do NOT agree that you need to make your passion your source of income.
How To Find A Career That Makes You Happy (Finally!)
You know that feeling you've got right now? That "Totally lost, I'm stuck, WTF am I even supposed to do with my career. Can't someone just tell me what I'm supposed to be doing?!?" feeling? Man, it sucks, doesn't it? I know that feeling. I've been through two major career shifts of my own and have since helped hundreds of clients, just like you, figure out WTF they want to do and how to get there.
So, no you don't have to do it alone. Promise. However, only you can know what's right for you. Let me show you how.
Do Your Thing, Your Way Because You Gotta Be You
Do your thing in your way because you gotta be you.
To succeed at anything, but especially your career, you have to lean into your youness - be the most you - and do the thing in your own way. There will always be someone who wants the same things in life as you - but nobody can or will do it like you.
Shocking shit I heard on client calls this yeaR
I had some truly amazing career coaching clients this year and we did a lot of great work together, but I heard some really shocking things from them! I know they are just overwhelmed. They feel stuck. They feel hopeless and they need help finding the meaningful work they want to do in their careers.
Dream Jobs, The Truth About 'Em
The truth about Dream Jobs, I wish someone had told me years ago: your one and only Dream Job doesn’t exist or, if it does - it ain’t so dreamy. What you can, and should, strive for is to Find Your Thing: a career you are interested in and enjoy that lines up with your core values and beliefs but perhaps isn’t your end-all-be-all-hanger-of-all-hopes-and-dreams.
No You Shouldn't ‘Follow Your Passion'
No, you shouldn’t ‘Follow Your Passion.’ I’m serious. This idea that you should find, then blindly follow, your ‘passion’ is overwhelming and ultimately unhelpful.
Finding Your Passion looms large. Finding Your Thing is the way to go.
Here's the deal. You know that feeling you've got right now? That "Totally lost, I'm stuck, WTF am I even supposed to do with my career, can't someone just tell me what I'm supposed to be doing?!?" feeling?
Man it sucks doesn't it? I know that feeling, but what you’ve been told, this idea that you ‘just’ need to Find Your Passion’ - it’s not a reasonable goal.
I've been through two major career shifts of my own and I’ve spent years helping clients figure out what their thing is.
